Summer Program

The Summer Program at LPS was a great experience for my son. At first we did not know what to expect, being new to the school. The LPS staff and teachers were very helpful and caring to him the entire time. He became so comfortable that after the end of his first week he asked me if he could attend the school full time. My son loved it all from the small classroom sizes, the daily breakfast and lunch the school provided, the fun field trips, and his favorite was the activities he did with teachers and students. Most importantly he left the program making new friends and finding the perfect academic support.

Learning Prep School Summer Program (Extended Year Program referred to as EYP) is a 3-week program running in July. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The EYP is designed to maintain progress and prevent substantial regression through structured educational and social experiences.

Middle School: Program components consist of functional academic classes (reading, math, writing, and social communication), social skills groups, art/computers, organizational support, essential speech and OT (as needed), social activities, and weekly, structured field trips.

High School: Program components consist of functional academic classes (reading, math, and writing), essential speech and OT (as needed), social and transitional/independent living skills development, and weekly field trips. All students entering 12th grade will be participating in a volunteer based work experience, 2 days per week.

The curriculum overview and sample schedules for both Middle and High School can be found here.

The Summer Program (EYP) is not approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).  A school district seeking placement in the LPS Summer Program may submit the Notification of Intent to Seek Approval for Individual Student Program (form 28M/3) to DESE.  Parents may choose to enroll independently.
