The application process typically takes 2-4 weeks. Many factors contribute to the application timeline including how quickly we receive reference feedback and the ability to schedule your child's tour and/or visit day.

Absolutely! Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, and many students start after the first day of school all the way into spring.

Unfortunately, Learning Prep is not able to award scholarships or financial aid at this time.

Students are grouped by skill and ability level rather than grade level for ELA, reading comprehension, math, speech and language, and occupational therapy. Students are grouped by grade for science and social studies/history.

While we have families coming from almost 70 different communities, Learning Prep does value and encourage family involvement. We have 2 formal parent groups, Partners in Education (PIE) and the Parental Advisory Group (PAG), that meet regularly during the year. We also have designated, volunteer "Grade level parents" for each grade, who often organize grade-level events outside of school. There is a parent directory to help families connect on their own if they wish.

Learning Prep serves students with a primary language-based learning disability. While we are able to support students who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 1) diagnosis, Learning Prep is not a school for students with a primary autism diagnosis needing ABA services. Learning Prep does not have a BCBA or ABA programming.

Learning Prep School cannot support students who have a primary emotional or behavioral diagnosis. While many students come to Learning Prep School as "ready learners," we also recognize kids are still kids and may need some basic support. In general, students should not be exhibiting distracting classroom behaviors.

We help students identify what tools they need to be successful. Sometimes that means returning to public school, sometimes it means maintaining the support they get at LPS. Our team will help your family navigate that path. Programming at LPS continues through 12th grade, so if students do need our support throughout their educational journey, we can help.

Yes! Learning Prep School issues diplomas to all students who meet the Massachusetts graduation requirements, including passing MCAS. Some students receive a diploma from Learning Prep and from their supporting district.

Over the last 5 years, about 36% of students attend a full-time college program, 45% enter a Transition Program, and about 12% enter the workforce or trade program upon graduation. Our High School Transition Program is designed to help students starting in 9th grade to navigate the path that is right for them.
