Welcome

Our mission is our people.

This first line of our mission statement perfectly captures what makes Learning Prep such a remarkable community. We exist for our students. Our students succeed because of the tireless efforts of our staff. And our families partner with us every step of the way. Together, we create a joyful and purposeful place where students thrive.

For more than fifty years, Learning Prep has served students with complex learning profiles through a language-based academic program designed to lower the barriers to their education. Our classrooms are small—no more than eight students—so that teaching can be truly individualized. Each student benefits from integrated speech and language servicesoccupational therapyweekly individual school-based counseling, and student-centered transition planning, including practical certificate programs, independent living skills development, and opportunities for dual-enrollment to receive college credit.

Today’s LPS builds on this strong foundation with innovation and intentionality. We are the only school of our kind that layers a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) onto an already differentiated framework. Through our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and ongoing progress monitoring, every student’s growth is discussed, supported, and celebrated.

At LPS, success isn’t one specific outcome. It’s the steady, individualized progress that helps each student leave here as equipped as possible for a happy, independent life.

I invite you to visit our campus and experience what happens when a school truly puts its people first. The joy you’ll find here—in our safe, structured, and caring environment—reflects the heart of who we are and why we do this work.

Warmly,

Kurt Moellering, PhD
Head of School
