The competitive juices were flowing at this year’s second LPS Blue Green Spirit Day as teams squared off in a school-wide scavenger hunt. Team pride was everywhere in evidence as teammates cheered on each other in their search for hidden items. Using clues, teams needed to find items in both the High School and the E/MS, record them by taking a photo with an iPad and, when all 25 items were located, compile them into a Power Point presentation and submit the file electronically. Clearly, not all learning takes place just in just the classroom as students demonstrated technical skills, social skills, cooperation and camaraderie in friendly competition during a morning capped off with ice cream and good cheer.

Thanks to an anonymous gift from an LPS family, the High School is now equipped with a new Maker Space & Robotics Lab! This remarkable new facility includes a touch screen Smart Board, two 3-D printers and a 20” X 12” laser cutter that can cut, design and etch using a variety of materials. The gift has also provided funds for enhancing our existing robotics program and additional storage space. Located on the main floor of the High School, the Maker Space and Robotics Lab contains a flexible wall that can allow two classes to work simultaneously, maximizing access to our students.

“A maker space gives students the technological tools to unleash creativity and problem-solving skills, while practicing the executive functioning (planning) required to bring ideas into reality,” explained David Lightfoot, Executive Director. “It will also provide an effective framework for collaborative projects, helping students to build social skills, foster teamwork and develop confidence in use of future technology.”

This is the 21st century version of the classic "shop class" (without power tools), is a continuation of our technology initiatives. The goal will be to create opportunities for students to explore and apply curriculum content in an environment designed for project-based, hands-on learning.

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Now that you’ve finished gathering school supplies, reviewing your child’s fall wardrobe, and seeing summer weather begin to cool down a bit, we need to take a moment to address one of the most important concerns that we all share: safe and timely transportation to and from school.

Please take a moment to review our School Transportation Plan below.

For students using a commercial bus or cab service

We have been working with those services and dispatch offices over the summer to prepare for the first day of school.  With many new drivers starting each year, and all of our students adjusting to school routines, it typically takes about a week to address issues of students arriving home without undue delay.  If you or your child experiences an issue with transportation by a commercial bus/cab service, we would like to help.  Please call us at x111.

For students driven by a parent or guardian

        Morning Drop-Off

    1. When you arrive, simply join the line of vehicles in our back parking lot.
    2. Please retain your child in your car until reaching the designated safe drop-off area, where our friendly, welcoming staff will assist you and greet your child.

        Afternoon Pick-Up

Elementary/Middle School vehicles enter and exit by the greenhouse on Prospect Place and park along the Mass Pike wall or in any empty space in our back lot.  Please come to the HS building for sign-out.

High School vehicles enter campus at Simms Court from Washington Street (by the funeral home), where staff will guide you around to line up on Allen Place next to the yellow house and arrange for your child to meet you at your car.  After your child arrives at your car, please proceed to the exit at Washington and Allen Place.  Please note that the funeral home does not permit LPS parking on their lot.

Learning Prep School coordinates 150 vehicles in safely transporting students to and from campus each day.  We thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to a wonderful year.

Please feel free to call extension x111 with any questions.

This process begins on Monday, August 29, 2016

We look forward to watching students grow as they become involved in the Learning Prep community through student leadership, school activities, the farm-to-table initiative, work/study, and clubs. Your involvement, partnership and support are greatly appreciated during the school year as we work to build and maintain our programs.
