Calling all Learning Prep School Alumni! Please join us Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 5:00-6:30 pm, for Alumni Bingo and Turkey Dinner!
Last year's Alumni Bingo Night was a blast! This year will be even better with High School Principal Jennifer Thorell scheduled to call the bingo games, so don't miss any of the excitement!
Chef Lindsay Cunniff and her staff will be preparing a delicious turkey dinner with all the fixings. Come back to campus, fill your plate, and connect with your former classmates and teachers for a fun night of Learning Prep School Bingo.
Cost is $15 and can be paid the day of the event.

Health & Wellness for Students with Complex Learning Profiles by Raman Magay on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.
Location: Learning Prep School, High School Building
This presentation will address the following: Understanding your child’s constitution- what are their natural inclinations and strengths that influence their physical and emotional health, behavior, and more; how to better understand and read food labels to support your family goals; tips on meal prepping for a successful week and to develop better eating habits; and resources that promote a healthy lifestyle for students with language-based learning profiles.
Refreshments will be served.
We're excited to announce that the LPS Greenhouse will be open to the public for holiday sales starting on Tuesday November 12th, running until Friday December 20th. Hours are as follows:
We hope you will visit our beautiful greenhouse to purchase a handmade wreath or a potted plant, to give as a gift or brighten your own home now that the cold and dark months are upon us.
We have a variety of plants in stock, all grown and cared for by LPS students. These include herbs, houseplants, hanging pots, and flowering plants.

On Friday, October 18, Elementary and MIddle School students attended a Field Trip to the beautiful Blue Hills Conservatory and Science Center! Students participated in a Kite-Making Workshop, visited the Weather Observatory and Weather Watching station, and took a Guided Hike. It was a beautiful fall day to be outside!
Thanks to a generous donation, LPS has acquired a new Health & Wellness center to be used for Physical Education, After School Program, and other classes as appropriate. Our new center is equipped with yoga mats & blocks, exercise balls, free weights, resistance bands, jump ropes, boxing gloves/stand-up bags, elliptical, treadmills, a rower, spin bikes, a barre, modified pull-up bar, foam rollers, a Radio/tv (with workout videos), a Wii (for Wii sports and 'Just Dance') and projector for class use.
We are so excited for students to use this new space and invite you to come check it out next time you're on campus!

This talk is for parents and professionals working with with college-bound, high school students who struggle with mild to complex learning, attentional or organizational issues. We will discuss: how to get extra time on standardized tests, student's legal rights after high school, top-ranked colleges for students with learning disorders, questions for assessing college support when touring colleges; top assistive tech tools and--most importantly, how to ensure your student will be successful once they're in college.

Thank you to all of our Family & Friends that helped Learning Prep School reach its fundraising goal in FY 2019. We reached our target goal on Friday, June 28th, just two days before the end of our fiscal year. Every gift mattered, and we could not have done it without your support that directly funded our operating budget where it was needed most. Words cannot explain how much we appreciate your support!
The Carpe Diem Award and Outstanding Service Award are two new traditions at LPS. The Carpe Diem Award is an honor award to a member of the faculty who continuously "seize the day", and was recently awarded to Amanda N! The Outstanding Service Award is given to a staff member who consistently demonstrates an excellent work ethic, a positive attitude and a dedication to our school, and was award to Carlos. Congratulations to both Amanda and Carlos for your enthusiasm and commitment to making a LPS a great place to teach, work and learn!
The last few weeks of the school year are always intensive and exciting. During the period March-June MCAS are a major focus for staff and students. Thirty of our thirty-six seniors passed MCAS and several others have submitted portfolios. Commencement for the Class of 2019 was held on Friday evening, May 31st. It was a beautiful ceremony celebrating the seniors as they transition to the next step in their life’s journey. Members of the Class of 2019 have been accepted at Cape Cod Community College, Landmark College (2), Lesley Threshold Program (3), Via University (Denmark), Salem State, Beacon College (2), Bridgewater State, Framingham State, Mass Bay Transitional Scholars Program, Full Sail University (Curry College),Massasoit Community College (2), Middlesex Community College, among others.
On the evening of May 23rd our annual Senior Parents’ event was held, highlighted by the tradition of each senior reading a letter to their parents, expressing their appreciation for all that they have done to support them. Senior Week provided numerous activities for the seniors to enjoy, including a PAWSOX game. Thanks to all who made these activities possible. On the evening of May 22nd we hosted another Alumni Event with 35 Alums joining us for spaghetti and meatball dinner, together with Bingo and a raffle. Alums from 1996-2018 attended! Our next Alumni event is scheduled for July 10th here at LPS. On Wednesday, May 15th a sumptuous Staff Appreciation Luncheon was provided by parents, an effort truly appreciated and enjoyed by all staff. Our Middle School “Moving On” ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00am, as we celebrate the accomplishments of our grade eight students and wish them well as they prepare to enter high school. The last day of school is Monday, June 17th. This will be a Blue/Green Spirit Field Day.
On behalf of all of us at LPS, we hope you will have an enjoyable and a safe summer with your family and friends. For those families and students who are not returning to LPS please know that we have enjoyed having you as part of our community and we wish you the best. We look forward to those of you who will be returning in August, and look forward to welcoming our new students and families.
