FAQ

What is the Family & Friends Fund?

The Family & Friends Fund is our annual giving fund. Annual giving is the customary way of fundraising for independent schools and colleges. Annual Giving is essential for nonprofit organizations to support operating costs and expenses the school incurs each year. Unrestricted giving supports the school’s most pressing needs.

Why is the Family & Friends Fund necessary?

LPS tuition covers most of the costs associated with educating an LPS student. Unrestricted financial support helps fill the gap needed to fund essential programs that enrich the student experience at LPS.

Why should I make a gift to LPS?

Our ability to provide the best education possible is directly connected to the generosity of our community. Financial support from alumni, parents, grandparents, staff, trustees, and friends allows us to educate our students to the very best of our abilities.

Will my gift make a difference?

Absolutely! Every gift no matter how large or small, is important to LPS! We encourage everyone in the LPS community to make Learning Prep School a philanthropic priority this year. Overall, donor participation is an important statistic that shows how much our community cares about LPS. Each gift has a profound impact on essential programs and the student experience at LPS

Is my gift tax-deductible?

All contributions to LPS are tax-deductible based on IRS guidelines. Check with your tax advisor for details regarding individual circumstances.

Can my gift be made anonymously?

Yes. When your contribution is made, please let us know you would like it to be anonymous and we will honor your request.

My company offers a matching gifts program. Is LPS eligible?

Yes, Matching gifts are an easy way to double down, or in some ways triple your gift to LPS. Area employers such as Verizon, Fidelity, Raytheon Corporation, State Street Corporation, Houghton Mifflin, Thomson Reuters to name a few, all have matching gift programs. Check with your Human Resources Department for organizational requirements. Some companies match gifts made by retirees and spouses as well.

Can I make a deferred or planned gift to LPS?
