PARENT COUNCIL
TONIGHT!  EVENING Parent Council Meeting

Friday, February 10th at 7PM
Please come to the Parent Council meeting TONIGHT at 7PM!  We will be discussing upcoming events and new enrichment programs.  It is a great way for parents to meet other LPS parents and get involved with the school.

    The meeting will be held during the HS dance and the Parent Council will be offering a G rated movie for 8th grade and E/MS students in the LPS cafeteria so parents can attend the meeting.

LPS is going to a Boston CELTICS game!
Sunday, March 4th at 1:00PM
Come watch the 17-time World Champion Boston Celtics at TD Bank North as they take on the New York Knicks.  Don't miss your opportunity to cheer on the Boston Celtics!  The tickets are $78 per person.  If you are interested the order form was sent home and will be up on the LPS website soon.  Make your check out to the Boston Celtics and give the form to your students home room teacher.  Attn:  Kathy Ryan.

Rock Climbing Anyone?
Rock Spot Climbing Gym, Dedham
Sunday, March 11th.  Time to be determined

LPS students are invited to rock climb with Waypoint Adventures.  The price is $50 per student for 2 hours of gym time.  Waypoint will provide a safe and comfortable environment that is adapted to fit everyone's needs.  You will be encouraged to challenge your limits and reach your goals while being introduced to the sport of rock climbing.  Waypoint will provide equipment, personal instruction and 2 hours of gym time.  Trained staff will be there to support you and instruct you as you explore the benefits and freedom of the amazing sport of rock climbing.  Take a moment to check out the Waypoint website. www.waypointadventure.org

LPS Girls Night Out Fashion Show in the LPS Gym

We are looking for models for the 2nd LPS Fashion Show.  All female teachers, staff, mothers, and female LPS students are invited to model.  SPECIAL INVITE:  Attention all High School Middlers, Juniors and Seniors:  Please come and model your prom dresses and we need handsome men to model their tux or suit!!

A LPS parent-2-parent Google group (discussion forum) has been set up for parents to network, share resources and ideas, plan out-of school social activities, etc.  You can subscribe to the group by sending an email to: lpsp2p@gmail.com

Please include the following information in your email.  (We need to verify that you're a LPS parent.)
1.)    Parent/Guardian Full Name    (person requesting the Google group access)
2.)    Students Full Name
3.)    Students Grade

If both parents/guardians want access to the group from separate email accounts, each will need to send a separate email requesting access and supplying the information above. 

You will also need to create a Google Group account to access the forum.  Instructions to do so will be mailed to you from lpsp2p@gmail.com once your request is received and your status as a LPS parent is verified.

Spring Program Dates:  February 27, 2012 - May 24, 2012

Sports, Yearbook, Cooking Club, Dance, Drama Club are only some of the offerings available in the LPS after school program.
Students have the opportunity to take part in both academically and socially enriching groups.  Approximately 100 LPS students participate in the various clubs each week, with many students participating in multiple clubs. Students are strongly encouraged to work on their social and communication skills in all After School programs.   Learning Prep School staff run the groups and use this time to assist students in improving their nonverbal and verbal skills in a safe learning environment. In addition to improving social and communication skills, after school programs give students an opportunity to foster new interests and talents, while gaining self-confidence.

COLLEGE FAIR!
Tuesday, March 13th from 9:00am - 12:15pm
LPS Cafeteria and LPS Gym

Parents and Guardians of LPS High School students are invited to attend the College/Post High School Fair.  LPS Middlers and Juniors will be attending the fair.  Representatives will be available to explain what the programs include and answer questions.  Most of the schools attending offer programs which our former graduates have attended.  This is a great opportunity to learn first-hand about the schools, what each program offers and if the program fits the students skills, interests and needs.  These schools are suitable to students with diverse learning challenges and offer varied types of support/accommodation for those challenges.  Most of the programs will offer financial assistance.
